Established in 1957, the Brunei Hotel is the country's first hotel and a local landmark. In 2021, the hotel underwent a renovation that resulted in a completely transformed lobby area.
The central part of the lobby features a double-height ceiling and a reception desk backed by floor-to-ceiling windows, creating an airy visual effect within the limited space. The clear and angular design highlights a sense of architectural aesthetics and balance. Complemented by the sleek and elegant CAMERICH furniture, the whole space welcomes the guests with a sense of ritual.
The designer extracted local materials from the surrounding environment and redefined traditional elements by using modern design techniques. The combination of wood, rattan and beige tones creates a warm and cozy atmosphere within the space.
The modern furniture with metal and leather accents blends in and creates a peculiar mix-and-match expression.
The redesigned space seamlessly integrates modern aesthetics with traditional elements, enhancing the hotel's aesthetic value while preserving its unique historical significance.
